To me success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life, but by the obstacles which one has overcome. Throughout my personal and professional life I have faced insurmountable odds and triumphed, but my Constance in all of this has been, to give the very best of myself, to my family, and those that I serve
Currently, I am a doctoral student working on a doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. An individual is never to old to learn and “the quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence (Vince Lambardi).” Previously, I earned a masters degree in Guidance and Counseling with emphasis in Community Mental Health from Fort Valley State University. Employed for seventeen years at the Oconee Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health Center as a Behavior Specialist, where administering, scoring and interpreting psychometric instruments was a major part of my duties. Conducting individual, group, family therapy sessions and developing individualized treatment plans was equally as important. I developed a specialty in Child Sexual Abuse working victimization cases for both adults and children. Through my work I became an expert witness for the judicial system and was later trained to work with sex offenders. Over all, my expertise expands over twenty five years of work and dedication to a people oriented service industry.
My experience in the area of management and marketing is provided through my owning and operating my own counseling practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor for four years. At the child and adolescent Center I managed and operated the Children’s (After school) Day Treatment Program. I also owned and operated my own restaurant for three years. Currently, I have developed a line a food products which will entering a market near you soon! I also own the Cake Lady Bakery with my daughter.
I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority where I served as chapter president. Later becoming the first undergraduate to serve on the Regional Board as the coordinator of Undergraduate Affairs for the Southeastern Region (Georgia, Florida and South Carolina). I was instrumental in the development and writing of our Probate Bill of Rights to eliminate hazing on college campuses. I worked tirelessly as a paralegal in the fight to end discrimination with government employees at Central State Hospital in the state of Georgia. To date this is the only successful discrimination case won against the state of Georgia. However, non of my accomplishments past or present supersedes my joy and responsibility as a parent. To me, loving children is our greatest gift, protecting and educating them is our life’s work, in our effort to help them become contributing members of our communities and world!
Unique qualities that I possess are: an innovative thinker, that demonstrates dedication, motivation and determination to succeed. I am an honest, responsible and fair individual that work well under pressure. I am eager to learn, caring, compassionate, dedicated, loyal and an understanding listener. These qualities makes me an excellent counselor and team player. Having been a practitioner in the past I know and understand the importance of Ethics and competence in the workplace. An employee without ethics will do almost anything. Good ethical practices and moral competences guides my actions both in and out of the workplace.
